Dr. Martin Howden

Martin Howden, Managing Partner (UK) for Peak Performance Group, has 26 years business experience which he uses as the foundation for his coaching practice established in early 2004.

Martin's business experience included 12 years as a Business Managing Director with ICI, Zeneca and Avecia, with global profit accountability for $250m businesses. Previously he had filled senior roles in Strategic Planning, Marketing, Operations and Research and Development. He has lived in the UK, USA and The Netherlands, as well as working extensively in Asia.

Martin's international coaching experience spans commercial, public and charitable sectors. Specific fields include Law, Education, International Development, Chemicals and Financial Services. His coaching embraces senior executives, support for managers making critical transitions, performance development programmes for those in key roles, and career management issues.

The coaching emphasis is heavily on action planning with a focus on results, based on joint identification by coach and executive of thought and behaviour patterns limiting the achievement of that executive's full potential in the workplace.

Martin has a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Cambridge College, Massachusetts, and a Doctorate in Chemistry from Leicester University, UK.




David House

David has over 20 years of business leadership experience to Board level in a variety of sectors including automotive, aerospace, food procurement and processing, IT (hardware, software and services) and mining equipment. His last position was HR Director in a £700m plc including significant M&A involvement and account director responsibility for blue chip corporate clients.

Since 1997 he has worked internationally as facilitator and coach. He specialises in building client partnerships focused on making a positive difference to business performance.

He strives to bring out the best in people for themselves, their departments and their organisations through developing leadership capability, coaching to enhance performance and facilitating teams in working together effectively to get results.

His areas of particular interest and experience are:

    ● directors and senior managers in leading their organisations, particularly at times of major
       change
    ● newly promoted leaders and managers in accelerating the transition into their new role
    ● high performing junior and middle managers with succession potential
    ● professionals facing a complex blend of challenges at work and at home
    ● individuals at a career crossroads

His recent private and public sector assignments include Manufacturing, Chemicals, Law, Education, Financial Services; Search & Selection; and Health.

David has a BSc(Honours) Sociology/Psychology from Bath University; and is accredited to administer and interpret a wide variety of psychometric tools. He is a Member of the European Mentoring & Coaching Council and the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development; and is an accredited Cruse Bereavement Counsellor.




Peter Thompson

Peter is an experienced facilitator and coach who specialises in building Leadership Capability in senior teams. He has more than fifteen years leadership experience to board level in a variety of business areas including Sales and Marketing, Culture Development and personal growth through Learning and Development. His broad commercial experience coupled with a pragmatic approach helps his clients translate strategic direction into practical behaviours. His passion is contagious and his track record reflects his interest in developing leadership skills in people to achieve for themselves. Through his time as an HRD he led Hilti GB limited a privately owned multinational to inclusion in the Sunday Times Top 100 companies to work for and has supported several organisations in developing their Vision and Values. Clients come from a broad base of sectors and include PZ Cussons, Skipton Group, Brittania/Co Op, Tearfund, Xella and Tate Liverpool.

Peter tackles real life situations bringing practical help and wide experience to leaders in transition. From development support to take Leaders to the next level through to a helping hand in a crisis, his focus is in ensuring there is lasting behaviour change which delivers improved performance and tangible business benefits.




Sue Shierson

Sue Shierson, a senior consultant with Peak Performance Group, has spent more than 20 years at senior levels in an international context within multinational organisations. In 2000 she established a successful coaching practice specialising in leadership, executive coaching and organisational development.

Sue's career spanned ICI, Zeneca and Avecia where she worked across functions, businesses, locations and cultures primarily in Human Resources and Organisation Development roles. From this environment of technological and organisational change she lived through and built first hand experience of the challenge organisations and particularly the most senior managers, face as they adjust to the needs and demands of new environments, new stakeholders and new markets.

Sue has a proven track record of successfully working with a range of organisations, from start-up's to multinationals mainly in the private sector but also the NHS, charity and academia. Her coaching experience ranges from Company Chairman, Main and Division Board members to high potential senior executives from all disciplines. Sue brings intellect, creativity and real challenge to the coaching process; at the same time she shows genuine care and concern for the individual. Her approach has proved to be outstandingly successful in helping managers more fully understand and address a wide range of issues and as a result improve their performance.

Sue is a highly experienced (and a licensed practioner) in the use of a range of individual and diagnostic tools. She has a Post Graduate level Diploma in Coaching accredited by the ILM and is an NLP practioner. Her academic qualifications include a B.Sc, from University College London and she is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.
